Friday afternoon, we headed up to the tiny town of Olema, situated on the
eastern edge of
Point Reyes National Seashore. Olema is not far from San Francisco. After
crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, we turned west onto Sir Francis Drake
Boulevard. From there, it's about 40 minutes to Olema.
There are several
inns and cottages in the area. There is a limited supply, though, so
be sure to make a reservation in advance. In the summer months, you can
camp at Samuel P. Taylor State Park. Well, I guess you can camp there outside
of summer, but it was definitely too cold for us to do it in December.
After unloading our bags, we drove two miles north to the small town of
Point Reyes Station, where we ate dinner at the Station House Cafe. The
food was good but a bit on the expensive side. But that's probably true of
most places in the area.
