In the morning we looked outside to see that there were still small patches of snow, remnants of
an earlier storm. Snow still dusted the peaks surrounding the area around Tamarack Lodge and
Twin Lakes, but it was clear and sunny this morning.
After breakfast we drove down into town for some supplies, then drove south on Highway 395. We
saw colorful aspens lining the hills above Sherwin Creek on the right. I considered stopping
there, but wanted to do the hike first so we kept going. We continued south to
Convict Lake.
